Light, fluffy snow-flakes danced down from the sky, landing on Emberfall's red and white coat. He sighed gently, glaring at the white speckles as if he had heat vision and he could melt them just by looking at them. After a few moments of merely looking at them, he stood up, shaking his belt until they all fell off. The experienced warrior had a lot on his mind. Where was Ashstar? Where was Thistleheart? He hadn't seen either of them in days. Slowly he started to pad towards the leader's den, poking his head in. "Ashstar?" He called out curiously, in case maybe the leader was just ill and resting in his head. No response came. The clan could not go on without a leader. And Thistleheart wasn't even there to take his place! There was no one to give council, no one to arrange patrols, no one to arrange hunting parties, no one to lead the clan. He remembered a time when he had wanted to be the leader... As time went on and Ashstar got settled in that want had completely washed away. Emberfall was quite happy being a mere warrior. Though, he couldn't stand the thought of his clan being wiped out. He took a deep breath, and leaped up onto high rock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the high rock for a clan meeting." His voice rang out through the clearing, smooth and confident. He really hoped the other cats wouldn't be upset with him for doing this. But someone needed to take charge, and he intended on doing so.

The fluffy, uncontrollable pelt of Adderdance billowed in the slight breeze as the she-cat emerged from the warrior's den. The warrior was enjoying a nice nap after hours of hunting and border patrolling, when the familiar voice of a Clanmate rang through her ears, awaking her from sleep. The light fall of snow sprinkled across Adderdance's brown and white fur, cooling her instantly. The she-cat narrowed her striking emerald eyes, to avoid getting snow in them, and padded towards the high rock. She took a seat near the center, fidgeting until she was comfortable. Adderdance turned her gaze towards the cat who had spoke, and blinked in surprise. Emberfall? She cocked her head to the side curiously, wondering if the warrior had been made leader during her nap. "Where is Ashstar?" She murmured to herself. Adderdance glanced around, wondering if the rest of the Clan was wondering the same thing, and looked back towards Emberfall to see what he had to say.

Frostbite laid slightly behind the High rock and was attempting to take a nap. Why she hadn't gone into the warriors den was beyond her. She couldn't force her eyelids to stay shut long enough for her to drift into the realm of the dreams. Shaking her head, she dislodged a small clump of snow that had landed on her head when she was attempting to sleep and watched as some apprentices ran around on the snow.
Just then she heard the loud call for a meeting. Standing up, she shook the rest of the snow off of her white pelt and padded around to the front of the rock. She took a place by another warrior that was only one moon older than her. When she turned her attention to the cat on the large rock overlooking almost everyone.; she was surprised when she didn't see the gray and white pelt of their leader. Instead, Emberfall looked out over them. Turning to the cat beside her, she asked, "Do you know what is going on?" she wondered if the other she-cat was as confused as her. In truth, she couldn't even remember seeing Ashstar or Thistleheart for a while.

Morninglight glanced up at the call signaling her leader wanted a clan meeting. Except.. there was no clan leader...
Her eyes blinked in confusion, as she tried to make sense of what was going on. She would admit that she hadn't seen Ashstar around, but in the meantime she had simply assumed the leader had been out hunting, patrolling, or sleeping. Hiding from the rest of the clan in any case.
Upon more speculation however, she came to the decision that, of course, that wasn't like Ashstar! Ashstar became leader for his loyalty to the Clan, among other things! She just couldn't imagine him abandoning those he had fought for.
"What's going on?" She whispered worriedly to the nearest cat.

He paused, waiting for the cats to gather while he gathered his thoughts. "As you all know I am not Ashstar, nor am I Thistleheart. The two of them haven't been spotted in several sun rises. This is a big problem, seeing as no clan can carry on without a leader or deputy. Of course we will arrange search parties for them, but in the mean-time we need someone to lead." Again he paused, studying the faces of the many cats. It just felt... right to be up there, addressing them. He flicked his tail gently, a twinge of stage-fright creeping in, though he tried to ignore it. What if suddenly Ashstar came out of hiding and were to see him addressing the clan in his stead? Would he be offended? Angry? Would he get punished? Though he knew what he was doing was right, it was natural instinct to turn to the leader for leadership. The word is in their title, for Pete's sake. "So... who shall lead our clan?" He wondered who the group would elect. Perhaps Cedarclaw? Tigergaze? Morninglight? All of them were good, respected cats. Or maybe they'd elect him... He pushed that thought away. He needed to keep a wide-open mind. He wanted whoever was best for the clan to be leader.
(In case you haven't guessed, Emberfall's gonna be the new leader. You can decide whether or not your cat votes for him, though we'll need the majority to do so.)

Morninglight listened in silence to what Emberfall had to say. She struggled against the thought of letting Ashstar and Thistleheart go, even though it might only be temporarily, but she knew someone had to take the lead for the time being.
She thought for a moment when Emberfall finished, looking at the options for temporary, and perhaps even permanent leader. It took her a moment to realize there were countless cats who could manage, but only one had taken a stand, and decided to tell the clan about his worries, suggestions, and opinions.
"I think you should be our leader, Emberfall!" She spoke up clearly, this time confidence in her opinion, unlike most times. "You would be a great leader..." She murmured softly, inaudible to most cats in the clearing. Displayed in her face, you could not only see she strongly believed what she said, but also the affection she held for the warrior.

"Well, this is a predicament I didn't expect."
Ravenfrost noted softly under her breath, peering up at Emberfall with an eerie peace about her. She had come up near Morninglight and sat neatly with her blackened tail curled about her paws. She had noticed that both leader and deputy had been absent the past few days, and had indeed begun to worry for it. Yes, Ashstar had gone on ventures to the pines for days at a time, but not so suddenly without warning his clan. Even if this was the case, the clan could not go any longer without a leader, even if the next one was only temporary. She listened to Emberfall's proposed question. Who would be leader of the clan? There was no deputy to take his place, so the position was up to election. They would need to choose wisely, lest the clan fall into chaos under a poor or inexperienced leader. The thought of chaos temporarily disturbed her calm...
What if this is the beginning of another sickness?
The thought made her stir and bite her tongue, for fear of speaking it out loud. The last thing the clan needed was fear during leaf-bare. She quietly licked her pelt to calm herself before she stiffened, and heard Morninglight's proposition.
Emberfall?
She looked up at him, immediately distracted from her thoughts. Standing above the clan, he did indeed look like a leader. He was the one who called the clan to order - so he had the voice. He had the respect of many, including herself. She knew he had kindness and justice planted deep within his heart. He was experienced in battle and in the art of being a warrior. He had the strength and the endurance as well. Her piercing blue eyes scavenged over his exterior, appraising him thoroughly before she nodded her head.
"Agreed. Emberfall should take the place."
She called loud enough to accept Morninglight's proposal and let the rest of the clan understand her stance. This was a good idea. There was no way the clan could fall under Emberfall's leadership.
Besides, Emberstar sounded more befitting of him, as he stood atop the crowd and addressed them. She smiled softly to herself. Was it scandalous to think him leader already? She was confident the rest of the clan would agree with her and Morninglight.

Adderdance glanced to Morninglight, then to Ravenfrost as they spoke up. Emberfall would be a good leader. She thought to herself, though she was still a bit hesitant. What if Ashstar and Thistleheart came back? Would they take up their former positions, or continue to be warriors? Whatever the case, she admired Emberfall for taking a stand and calling this meeting. He deserved the position. "I agree." She called out, feeling more confident about her answer. Adderdance glanced at the other warriors, nodding to the ones who also agreed.

Morninglight's eyes darted through the crowd as she waited for any agreements, or objections, though thankfully, there hadn't yet been any of those.
"Are there no objections?" She meowed. She looked around and almost at once, her eyes found Gingerberry's. Feeling that he, as the clan medicine cat, nuts or not, should have say in this, she asked him kindly, not wanting to upset him.
"Gingerberry? What do you think? Have StarClan shared anything with you?"
Gingerberry glared at Morninglight and Emberfall. How dare Morninglight ask him about StarClan! And how dare Emberfall stand up as SilentClan's leader.
"No." He hissed, loud enough for everyone to hear. "StarClan ignore us. They hate us. They have given up on us." He paused. "So I'm ignoring them." His voice grew louder, until he was yowling with fury. "You all believe in StarClan, don't you? Well StarClan hasn't seaid anything, so it must mean they want us dead! They want us dead! We don't need a leader to lead us into death!"
He softened again. "Do what you want. I don't care, and neither do StarClan."
Morninglight stared in shock at Gingerberry. She knew he was furious with StarClan for not doing anything for Silverpaw, but she never realized it was this bad. No wonder everybody thought he was crazy. She wondered silently how Reedpaw would get on. If this was our medicine cat now... maybe it was time to think about a new medicine cat as well as a new leader...

Adderdance's gaze slid to Morninglight as she asked for an objections. Emberfall would make a good leader. She thought to herself. As Gingerberry started speaking up, she bounced out of her thoughts and turned to look at him. The medicine cat was now yowling now, and Adderdance shrunk back in shock. Her light eyes widened slightly as he said StarClan wanted them all dead. She opened her mouth to respond, but the shock of listening to his words permitted her from saying anything. She paused for a few moments and mewed, "That's not- that can't be true, Gingerberry." She said, her tone soft but loud enough to be heard.
