Berrykit sat inside the nursery and stared outside sadly. There was nothing to do and she was 6 moons old. She was now old enough to be an apprentice and the she-cat wanted to be one now. Berrykit sighed and turned away. She doubted that she was going to be made an apprentice any time soon. The Clan was busy and didn't have time to get to her. Berrykit did know that she would be made an apprentice as soon as possible, but it felt like too far for her.
The she-cat curled in her nest and laid her head on her paws. She stared outside for any signs of Emberstar. Just when she thought all was lost the little she-cat thought she saw her leader pass. Leaping to her feet, the she-cat ran out of the nursery and after the cat that she thought was Emberstar, "Emberstar wait. I want to talk to you. Is that ok?"
Berrykit waited silently for the cat to respond. She hoped that her leader was not too busy to speak to her. Berrykit wanted to become an apprentice and to help prepare for her future in the Clan. Once she secured a place as an apprentice then she would be well one her way to helping to defend her Clan from danger.

Emberstar was making his way across the camp when he found himself being stopped by Berrykit. He turned around to face her "I am sorry Berrykit, but it will have to wait a little bit. Nothing could be important enough to post-pone this." He felt bad for cutting the young she-cat off, but he had a feeling she would be quite pleased with what happened next. He flicked his tail at her and continued on towards the highstone. Gracefully, the tom leaped on top of the stone. A moon or two ago when he had first obtained the position of leader he would have stumbled a bit and needed to re-grip before he could get all the way on top, but recently he had mastered the jump, and it was no trouble at all for him. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the highstone for a clan meeting." The traditional words rang throughout the clearing, into every clan cat's ears. In a matter of seconds there would be a crowd beneath him, waiting to hear what he had to say. Yes, it felt good to be leader. So far things were going quite smoothly.
